About
Democracy in Flight is a platform for democratic practice, civic learning, and connective infrastructure under conditions of fragmentation, exile, and transnational repression.
We connect democracy defenders, organizers, students, researchers, journalists, artists, and public institutions across borders to build the relationships, strategies, and civic ecosystems necessary for democratic life to endure under pressure.
Our work grows from a simple premise:
Democracy is not sustained by institutions alone. It depends on connective civic tissue — trust across difference, distributed leadership, overlapping organizations, public participation, and the ability of strangers to act together repeatedly over time.
At a moment when authoritarian systems increasingly coordinate across borders while democratic societies become more fragmented and isolated, Democracy in Flight exists to help rebuild that connective capacity.
Our work includes:
university partnerships and experiential civic-learning programs;
engagement with democracy defenders in exile;
cross-border democratic strategy and dialogue;
ecosystem-building across civic and public institutions;
and the development of practical democratic infrastructure rooted in relationships, participation, and collective action.
This is not a speaker platform or conference circuit.
We are interested in democratic practice, not performance.
